Folk songs and music of Gwent with Katie Batchelor

A talk with a difference combining musical folk history and live performance in the company of folk fiddle player, Katie Batchelor!

Please join me for a performance of the traditional song and dance music of Gwent, with a talk on the history and stories behind the music.

Some of these tunes travelled around Wales and across borders by land and by sea, being adapted and recorded as they went, and we will focus in mapping the progress of two in particular which are still being played today as part of active traditions.

I am a folk fiddle player who has lived in Cardiff for five years since completing my Bachelor of Music degree at Cardiff University, and am an active member of several different South Wales based traditional music sessions and dance groups.

This performance will be via Zoom so please make sure you have the latest update!
