Supply of Sculpture - Magor Marsh Nature Reserve

The Living Levels Landscape Partnership is looking to commission a series of six life-sized, or larger than life-sized, human sculptures representing key figures in the history of the Levels.

This commission will include the design, fabrication and installation of one, of two initial, sculptures at Magor Marsh Nature Reserve. The second will be at Black Rock Picnic Site. Please see the separate commission for Black Rock if you are interested in quoting for both pieces. Next year we will add an additional four sculptures to the series and each will be commissioned separately.

Magor Marsh nature reserve is owned and managed by Gwent Wildlife Trust and is one of the last remaining fragments of fenland on the Gwent Levels. The reserve has a varied mix of habitats, including damp hay meadows, sedge fen, reedbeds, wet woodland, scrub, open water, and many water-filled ditches. The range of habitats attracts a wide variety of wildlife, such as kingfishers, water voles and dragonflies. The natural, wild character of the reserve should be taken into account in any proposals.

By placing sculptural artwork figures in the landscape at places with historical or environmental significance, the figures will bring to life the heritage of the Levels and the stories of the people who have lived, worked, worshipped and played here. They will draw attention to the history and natural heritage of the area and act as visual signposts.
